In 1989 I took my first hike up Storm Castle. It was a SCA field trip with Dave Buchanan and Darren Thomas. We were visiting two women who hiked to Storm Castle every day with thawing quail from the freezer at the Squaw Creek Ranger Station. They were feeding peregrine falcon chicks in a "hack" box on the summit. 2,000 vertical feet and 5 miles round trip each day. They were tough...
On the first real Spring day, we decided to head to Lemondrop.
Jean, Rocky and Joel took a spring walk up Teepee Creek.
On a great pre-fall day Jean, Mike, Rocky and I did a hike up Caribou Mountain. Great trail, great summit and wonderful views.
The Second College Grant roads are gated to vehicular traffic (unless you have a pass that you can get if you are associated with Dartmouth College), but the public is welcome afoot or on a bicycle. So, we parked the truck at the gate and used our mountain bikes to cover the two and a half mile trip to the trail head. The trail is well blazed to the top of the...
This is a great hike to a 1,000 foot mountain just inland from the coast of Maine. Great views in 360 degrees. Thanks Ken for suggesting and going with us on this hike.
A great hike to the site of a demolished fire tower (therefore great views), then over to Owl Head to get the view from the ledges.

The Shelburne Trail Club has just opened a trail from Dream Lake (Peabody Brook Trail) to the ledges of Bald Cap Peak. These ledges afford some of the best views of this section of the Androscoggin Valley. We also walked around Dream Lake, past the Dryad Falls Trail to the junction with the Mahoosuc Trail. One location gives great views down the lake and of the Presidential Range. There was a memorial...
We took a walk on the rehabilitated Scudder Trail to Mt. Ingalls, and then over Mt. Cabot on the way out. Thanks for Patrick and Jane for the good company.
We hiked to the the Mahoosuc Trail by going up the Centennial Trail (AT) from the Hogan Road in Shelburne, NH. We hiked down the Mahoosuc Trail, over Mt. Hayes to a logging road just above Leadmine Ledges. We followed the logging road back to the Hogan Road, and down the road to the Centennial Trail parking.
A great hike in Shelburne, NH. We started at the Gates Brook Trail (Middle Mountain Trail) up over Middle Mountain and down to the Peabody Brook Trail, out to the North Road

We started this canoe trip at Big Bend Campground about two miles upstream from where this GPS record starts. I forgot to turn it on!
The trailhead is 3.1 miles up Rt. 128 from its junction with US 191 in Moab, UT. The trailhead is well marked and parking is on the right. Overflow parking is on the left, just up the hill.My GPS only recorded the return trip. So double the miles and the time that show here.
We took a walk up the Porcupine Trail today. The snow was packed down enough to not need snow shoes or skis. Lots of sign of elk: poop, tracks and where they brushed away snow to get at grass. We saw a three legged coyote on the way home. He/she had lost their left front paw. The coyote was looking for food on the side of the road, which is not a...
A couple of days after hunting season, and little snow on the ground we hiked to Lemondrop with our friend Scott.
