Sandy treated the Wednesday hiking group to an encore visit to Tilden Park, including fantastic panoramic views of San Francisco bay that ranged from the Bay Bridge to the Richmond Bridge. Although Wilma missed the hike, she and her grand daughter joined us briefly for lunch at Lone Oak picnic area.
Morris led the Wednesday hiking group on a great foggy tromp through Tilden Park, covering the Seaview, Arroyo, Widcat Gorge, Mineral Springs, Curran, and Meadows Canyon trails.
Jack led the Wednesday hiking group on a great hike in Redwood Regional Park. The well-shaded hiking route was a good choice for a hike that was expected to be very hot, but as it turned out, we were treated to a foggy start to the hike, with some nice sun after our lunch stop.
George lead the Wednesday hiking group on wonderfully "cool" hike of the Berkeley Hills starting down Memory Lane to the Selby Trail, with lunch at Elder Picnic Area, and return by the Meadows Canyon Trail. The hike included three scenic pathways in Berkeley's Park Hills District with about 200 ascending steps. The hike provided some stunning views of the Bay.
Tom led the Wednesday hiking group on a beautiful hike through Leona and Chabot Regional Parks. We hiked the Goldenrod, Bass Cove, and Columbine to Bort Meadow for lunch. We headed back via the Grass Valley and Leona Canyon trails past Merritt College, and ended the hike along the challenging but beautiful York trail.
George led the Wednesday hiking group on a great 10 mile loop through Redwood Regional Park, with a stop for lunch at Redwood Bowl. This was a great hike for a hot summer day, since most all of the hike was sheltered under a wonderful canopy of trees.
Kirk led our Wednesday hiking group on a great 10 mile hike of Tilden Park, providing magnificent views of San Francisco and San Pablo Bays, as well as San Pablo Reservoir.
This is a wonderful walk from our Kai Lani condo past the Ko Olina resort lagoons and along the old railroad bed to the nearby town of Kapolei, HI.
Wilma lead the Wednesday hiking group on a wonderful BART to BART hike, beginning at the Orinda BART and ending at the Berkeley BART. We climbed up through the Berkeley hills, stopping for lunch at the Tilden Park Steam Train picnic area. After lunch, we took the Grizzly Peak Trail to the upper campus of UC Berkeley, decended down through Strawberry Canyon, across the Berkeley main campus, and ending at the Berkeley...
