Trips
About 9 miles around Lake Chabot.
Redwood Regional Park offers a cool micro-climate in hot weather. The creek running through the park is where specimens of rainbow trout were used to first describe the species. Our hike starts by the creek and climbs up to the West Ridge. Here we have views of both San Francisco Bay and Mt. Diablo.
Just a short hike on a nice cool day.
From Ayala Cove we take 144(or so) stairs and continue to Mt. Livermore.
We explore the pathways in this hilly Berkeley neighbor. Most are stairs. There are many small parks what showcase the ryolite rock outcroppings. Some of these rocks are a great place to practice rock climbing skills.
Note our circuitous path!
We hike in Briones Regional Park. See a kite, Harrier, Newts, and great views of Suisun Bay and Mount Diablo.
Alum Rock Park in San Jose is the oldest municipal park in California. It has many mineral rich springs.
