The track as shown combines two runs that Raj did on Sunday the 28th. I joined the morning run and that is what I'm describing here. We (Raj, Paul, John, Unpendra and myself) went from his home (first kilometer not shown as the GPS hadn't picked up satellites yet) via Ramkot danda (ridge) and Naikap gomba(monastery) to the Dhading side and via a trail already explored back to the valley rim, the...
This is a track from Mountain bikers, that would be interesting to check out as a two to three day trail run. The track might be improved upon, it's said to be mostly jeep road - and we would obviously prefer small trails. Will have to check it out and see it for ourselves to do that though.
For those who live up North: a nice 20k route doing the Shivapuri foot hills. Track is by Peter from a run with Richard.
The plan for today was to explore some new trails around Pulchowki, do a fair bit of altitude meters, and if possible and/or we feel like it, a lot of kilometers. The latter didn't happen but the trails we did were fabulous, we had great mountain views from Pulchowki, and although we walked more than we ran, all of us, Narayan, Upendra and myself (Paul unfortunately ill) had a great day out.From...

Biggest group ever to join us on a trail run: Peter, Raj, Narayan, Miki, Sarah, Pawan, Ritish, Umesh, Hari (yes the famous Hari Roka, a good friend of fellow Jumli Narayan), Paul and myself. The first 16-17k were city, upto Kopan. Lots of slums along the Bagmati (although they seem to be cleared fast for the river road), and Pashupatinath and Bauddha (with the great sel roti place for breakfast). We all stayed together...
White House Hill circuit from the Summit Hotel
Patan, Kathmandu Valley, Nepal

A shorter circuit from where I live that still has enough trail to be really enjoyable. The track is from Peter's GPS, my running partner for this afternoon outing. Surprisingly, given its closeness to my house, we managed to hit some some new terrain. Decided to take the water treatment area back alleys to Nakhu bridge and from there the normal route to Sano Kokhana, Kokhana and the Bagmati bridge below Bungamati....
This is actually Miki's track (and her photo's) so you can also find it here: http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1372629We were five, Miki, Raj (who has his track here: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/131141267#)Sarah, Pawan and myself. I had done this area from my house with Peter before:http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1129879But the Chauni-Chauni circuit is a great, actually better way to explore this area. The small allies in the Chauni area are traffic free, you cross the ring road and very quickly after that can...

Only part of the track available.....
The track and pictures are Peter's. That's why it starts near his house close to Bhatbhateni super market, and ends at Chabahil. We ran together from Kopan to Kopan (marked on the map), we being Raj, Upendra, Ritish, Narayan, Pawan, Peter and myself. The length of the run was 25k.The run basically connected known trails but made for a nice half day circuit run from Kopan monastery above Bauddha. The combination of...
Peter, me, and Upendra did this recce over three days. On the 8th we drove to Pokhara, met up with Upendra, took a taxi from Halanchowk (lakeside - the actual starting place will be within a couple of hundred meters of this crossing) to Hyangya where the route leaves the main road and did the route until Pitam Deurali. The next day we did Landruk-Ghandruk-Kimrong danda-Jinu-Chomrong-Tadapani. And the last day the rest.It...
Peter, Jurgen and I went out this morning to do the Champadevi ridge and try to find a trail emerging at Nagdunga, where the Pokhara road leaves the valley and where one would need to cross that road and climb the ridge at the North side to follow the actual valley rim towards Jamachok/Nagarjun.We came close to realizing our objective, finding our way from Deurali to Chitlang Banjyang, the old main access...
Recce of possible Shivapuri sky race route

Richard and I went out today afternoon to measure and take pictures of a possible "sky race" route up and down Shivapuri. The beautiful pics are Richard's work. The route would work fine, not many road signs necessary, easy to control short cutting, and very beautiful.....and hard. The recce has resulted in this:http://shivapuri.trailrunningnepal.org/
My wife and youngest daughter joined Connie, Ignas and their two kids for a Annapurna round monsoon trek. For me - given my free days left - only a very quick catch up was possible. They left on Friday, and I took the Besisahar bus on Sunday. Made it to Bahundanda in daylight, and caught up with them the next day in Chame (6 o'clock start, got there 14:45). Spent an enjoyable...
Shivapuri trails have proven to be remarkably leech proof during monsoon season and also quite runable (as opposed to being too slippery) so after last weekend's Shivapuri outing, Richard, Raj and myself (Peter climbing in Ladakh...) went again to the North side of the valley. Last weekend we discovered that the stair case trail from the national park entrance gate at Buddhanilkantha now continues to just below the top of the ridge....

Pictures, as always, from Peter!A long and slow day with lots of 'mistakes' with trails - but so it goes when one tries out new things and we had a good day out. Raj picked Peter and me up at the Summit, we added Upendra on our way to Pulchowk and had a late (7:45) start from Narayan's house. Thre plan was to go up the Bishanku Narayan ridge and do our usual...
