But I love days like this and the park was fresh and the colors of the flowers, trees, and foliage seemed especially rich.

We set out on this hike the day after a really soaking overnight rain.. and we paid for it! The Fortuna Saddle Trail was so muddy, slippery, and slow going through the valley that I thought more than once about turning around and heading back for the car.. but I'm glad I didn't in the end. I will say that the mud through this area was heavy with sticky clay that stuck...

Today is the last official day of winter, but spring has had a head start. It was a beautiful day and my first time hiking in Mission Trails Regional Park. The hills and valleys are green and flowers are beginning to bloom. We had a little excitement today. Apparently a mountain biker took a nasty spill and had to be rescued by helicopter.
