took the easier route this time, going "down hill" starting at the top. Hike needs a carshuttle. Great hike with great flowers in spring. the trail is a bit more technical I would say some , rocky, narrow sections, slippery depending on the time of the year.
needs a EBMUD permit for this hike found about 30 caches on this hike
very nice hike when the flowers are in season , mainly on old springs trail and then continue to rodeo beach and from wolf ridge down to tennesse valley beach Note, the route we took up from tennesse beach to coastal trail has a no hiking sign on one side, ppl use this (old trail ???) !!!!!! it is steep, and has some steep drop offs (cliffs) next to it, not for...
Nice snow shoe trip up to thunder mountain, we stopped 500 feet from the real peak, have to take shoes off to get to real peak, Time could have been about one hr shorter, we had a skier which was a little slower on the downhill parl I thought the route was pretty avalanche save, maybe the last half mile to the top there was an area which was steeper and you have to be...
Elevation gain / loss is to high should be really around 2000, mileage is accurate the i phone does not really great on elevation gain / loss under heavy tree cover or rugged terrain.
had gps issues and could only record from the viewing platform to top of falls and then back to the trail head.
did some geocaching on this hike

started at natalie coffin greene park, parking is tight, may have to wait a while for ppl to leave, lots of short term parking ppl.has around 20 spots, was full at 8am on a saturday. note, colliers spring has some very steep sections, some device puts it at around a 24 % grade.
big basin waterfall loop plus adding in sempenviren falls via meteror trail
gps missed about half a mile, I was out of battery.
most direct route from regency drive, some steep sections, we came back and took the detour via the waterfalls trail
hiked up mosaic canyon, needs a scramble up the side of the canyon, not for everyone
went up the canyon at the second "dip"sign, nice little canyon, some narrows, colors, some dry fall scaling needed, ends after about 0.8 miles due to choke stone in canyon, has a possibe by pass, crawling through on side, but seems small and we could see a second choke stone just passed first one,
we hiked up the main canyon, bypassing the first waterfall, (easy trail on the right before the fall) continued on to the second fall, we bypassed this fall on the left, the scramble up there is not for everyone, apply your own judgement, some loose stuff to scramble up, some exposed areas until you hit the high trail, we turned right on the high trail and continued on , bypassing the 3rd...
