The main attraction of this hike is billed as reflection lake, where as the name indicates you can see Mount Rainier reflecting off of the lake. However, after doing the hike the real attraction are the amazing vistas passed during the second half of the loop. The first half of this hike is mostly downhill through woods and meadows until you reach the lake. the second half of the loop, which has...
This is an amazing hike... The trail starts right next to the Paradise Inn. At the start you are walking up through an evergreen forest with an amazing view of the mountain. Less then a mile or so up the trail you cross the tree line and hike through alpine terrain crossing over glacier ice with even more amazing views of the mountain. Eventually you start your way down through wildflower meadows...
This trail begins right next to the Paradise Inn in Rainier National Park. The Golden Gate Trail is a bit of a shortcut to Panorama Point, which is on the Skyline Trail. Depending on the time of year you do this hike you will be surrounded by wild flowers or snow. From VisitRainier.com:"The trail makes a long, rising traverse, then switchbacks through more meadows as it continues toward Golden Gate. If you can tear your eyes...
An Ascent up Mount Monadnock. This climb is somewhat challenging. the first mile is easy the second mile invovles a quite a bit of rock scrambling. All in all well worth the challenge.
A hike up Sugarloaf Hill from the Garrison Metronorth stop. Apparently the top of Sugarloaf is the only place in the Hudson Valley where cacti grow. You will also pass nearby a massive privately owned castle on the top of a hill during this hike. Enjoy!
This was roughly a 3.5 hour hike up Bull Hill from Cold Spring (a nice little town along the Hudson). The begining has some moderate ups, but overall the hike is pretty easy. On the way up you do get some great views over Cold Spring and the Hudson Valley.
This was a bike ride from Redmond, WA around Lake Sammamish. Going down on the east side there is a nice path, but you have to ride on the road coming up the west side. All in all good scenery, some really nice houses, and friendly folk. Enjoy!
This was a partial hike up Mount Tremper, we had to turn back early because we started the hike way too late.
This was an interesting walk/hike from Peekskill station, through Blue Mountain Reservation and Depew Park back to the station. We encountered quite a significant amount of wildlife including frogs and snakes. We also saw quite a few different species of mushrooms. We also encountered a bog where the frogs were making some really odd noises... akin to rubber band sounds effects...
This was a brief hike we did at the Delaware Water Gap along the Appalachian Trail. We mostly walked along the Dunnfield Creek. Sadly we didn't have too much time for hiking, but did get some fantastic creek views, which looked especially nice after a few days of snow. There are many many trail options in this region so it would be very easy to make anything from a day to several...
This was a hike in Acadia National Park in December during a pretty intense snow storm across several carriage roads. Given the carriage roads you have the option of treating this as a traditional hike or using a cross-country skiing experience. However, there are a lot of smaller trails that intersect with the main trail which you would not be able to do with skis. Some highlights include frozen waterfalls, large ice...
I just did a quick walk around the Princeton Battlefield site. This hike encompasses some of the same paths George Washington used to move his army from Trenton to Princeton. All in all this path is quite intersting and holds some significant historical value. There are a lot of different options to walk once you go beyond the trees so you should be able to have a good day or afternoon of...
