Hiking | 4.2 miles
This hike is along and old railway bed for much of the way.  Start out from the gift shop at China Ranch and head southwest down the canyon from the gift shop.  About 1/4 mile in, you'll come to a fork in the trail where there's a sign erected by the Nature Conservancy.  At this sign, head right.  Soon you'll pass an old bar that was also used as an assay office....

Hiking | 5.7 miles
I parked at the corner of LaKe Avenue and Loma Alta Drive.  The hike starts alongside the gate by the former Cobb Estate.  It's a short walk along broken black top roadway to get to the dirt trail that goes to Echo Mountain.  There are three options—take care to take the middle trail.  The driveway makes a left turn.  Keep right and then make a quick left.  There is another trail that...

Death Valley, California, United States
Hiking | 5.2 miles

Hiking | 6.0 miles
This is an easy loop hike with a neat beginning.  There are two sets of rings that help you get to the lower section of Banshee Canyon.  The rings help you by being good foot and hand holds.  WHen I first saw the bolts years ago I thought you'd have to be nuts to do that.  It really was not difficult at all.  We did get off trail after the first 1/3...
