Quail Mountain is the tallest peak in Joshua Tree National Park.  Much of this trip is off trail, as is many hikes in Joshua Tree.  Elevation change is approximately 1800 feet.  This is the desert, so  use common sense, consider what time of year you are going to attempt the hike, and bring much more water then you think you will need.

Chain Lakes ( Mosquito Lake). Well this trip was a nightmare. Not because of the hike, that part was great. But since the snow was so heavy, the Mosquitos were out of control. They were so bad we cut a 3 day trip down to one day. In one day, out the next.
