Hiking | 6.3 miles
Nice birthday hike. The trailhead is by the flag pole after park entrance. Went through inland California style grassy hills with oaks and some cow pasture land. Gorgeous panoramic views of Monterey Bay and Salinas from Eagle Peak. Downhills were steep and slippery at points.

Hiking | 6.1 miles
A hike you can hike to from downtown Monterey.  Veterans Park is only about a mile walk from downtown.  Nice cool day.  The fog rolled in on the P.G. side of the hill.  The wild Iris' are in full bloom as are teh sticky monkey flowers.  A deer and I scared the crap out of eachother as I was rounding the water tank.

Another quick hike before J had to go to work. Nice warm day with the beautiful smell of what ever the white flowering tree in the pictures is.

Hiking | 3.8 miles
Just a quick hike before J had to go to work. Beautiful blue sky and a lot of seasonal changes since we last did the hike. Most of the rolling green fields had turned brown. We ran about a third of the hike.

Andrew Molera State Park - Headlands Trail and Ridge Trail - Hidden Trail - River Trail Loop
by zeebodaman on May 18, 2008
Big Sur, California, United States
Hiking | 6.3 miles
Abnormally warm day for Big Sur with a huge wall of fog off of the coast. We started off with the headlands trail and double back because we didn't want to soak our socks crossing the river to the beach (mistake because we had to cross the river by the parking lot later). The headlands trail was a wonderful walk through the campground to the beach. There were lizards and quail everywhere....

Hiking | 4.9 miles
Gorgeous sunny day at Point Lobos. We took a nice easy fun hike today (still trying to break in my new hiking shoes). We saw 2 bunnies, a deer that let us walk very close, a millipede, seals, sea lions, and many birds. There was also a multitude of wild flowers in bloom, especially the wild iris' and sticky monkeys.
Proposal Hike - Garland Ranch - Garzas Creek
by zeebodaman on Apr 23, 2008
Carmel Valley, California, United States
Hiking | 3.5 miles
I came home from work early and took J out for my favorite hike in Garland Ranch. It was raining on the way to Redwood Canyon. We took a break on the bank of Garzas Creek and I made sure to place her on a comfortable rock. She was completely surprised when i got down on my knee and told her how happy she makes me. I pulled the ring out of...

Garrapata State Park - Rocky Ridge to Soberanes Canyon Loop
by zeebodaman on Apr 06, 2008
Carmel Highlands, California, United States
Hiking | 4.7 miles
Beautiful sunny day in Big Sur. Mid 60's. Took the Rocky Ridge Trail to Soberanes Canyon. Started off on a moderate up and up climb to the peak with ocean views, many lizards, and tons of wildflowers (J's count was 42 different kinds). The downhill to Soberanes Canyon was crazy steep and rocky (1000 foot in 1 mile). Soberanes Canyon is full of redwood stands that straddle Soberanes Creek all the way...

Garland Ranch - Redwood Canyon Trail
by zeebodaman on Mar 22, 2008
Carmel Valley, California, United States
Hiking | 4.0 miles
Garzas Canyon / Terrace / East Ridge / Redwood Canyon / Garzas Canyon. Fun moderate hike to Redwood Canyon. Starts through a beautiful oak grove. Had to rock hop across Garzas creek four times, J fell in on the last crossing. A lot of wildflowers in bloom (even saw one lonesome Blue Bonnet). Small patch of Redwood trees and ferns with that incredible smell you only get in redwood groves.

Rancho Tierra Grande, California, United States
Hiking | 3.7 miles
Short moderate hike before J had to go to work. Almost in full spring bloom. J counted 20 different wildflowers, all still babies. The poppies were closed when we started and mostly open by the end. A great blue heron blocked our path at the end.

Henry W. Coe State Park - Middle Ridge Trail
by zeebodaman on Mar 09, 2008
Madrone Soda Springs (historical), California, United States
Hiking | 7.9 miles
8.2 mile hike from the park headquarters via corral trail to forest trail to poverty flat road to middle ridge trail to fish trail. Beautiful rolling grasslands with Manzanita trees, Oak trees, three stream crossings (didn't get wet with talented rock jumping). Steep down followed by steep up. I mapped out the route with a topo map and compass. It was supposed to be an easy 6 mile hike with some rolling...

Nice green cool hike up Sky Trail (steep) to Snivleys Ridge. Went past the old homestead foundation and up and up and up. Beautiful views of the Santa Lucia Mountains to the south from Snivleys Ridge.
