Cascade Heads Trail

Hiking | 2.5 miles
This trail starts at the Knight County Park  and goes through Nature Conservancy land.  The trail winds through some old growth Sitka Spruce and to some great views of the Salmon River Estuary and Ocean. Trail can be muddy in certain areas, but the 'upper view" is well worth the trek.

This is an unknown place to hike along the Loraine Highway west of Eugene. This property was created by the Carnine Family. Some great views of Fernridge Resevoir  in the distance.  At the top of the hill, it appears that they are replanting some of the areas with Douglas Fir, Yew.  On the East side of the hill there is a Douglas fire Tree plantation that has been thinned recently.

Geridine Butte/Hidden Lake - Near Waldo Lake

This is great trek if you like to do some cross country hiking to Hidden Lake and Geridine Butte. There is no designated trail to these destinations. Mt Jefferson - Jefferson Park/PCT Trail to Russell Lake

This is a moderate to hard trek to Jefferson Park which sits between Mt Jefferson and Park Butte. The trek is a rather popular hiking spot. You may see many hikers along the trail. This trail also feeds into the Pacific Crest Trail. The Trail first starts out by winding through mature, old growth Douglas Fir, Hemlock trees. Three Finger Jack - Canyon Creek Meadows Trail

This is an easy to moderate hike to a glacial lake off of the Canyon Creek trail loop The Canyon Creek trail is a loop trail that starts at Jack Lake and winds around part of the B&B Complex fire that occurred sometime in 2003. This hike is moderate to difficult depending on what shape you are in. Total round-trip is about 10.2 miles with 2200 elevation gain.This is a great loop trail to the top of Sawtooth Mtn. Threemile Lake from Sparrow Park Road

This trip is an easy to moderate trek through  Douglas Fir, Sitka Spruce and Hemlock forests , Sandunes, Shore Pine and Sandy beaches whereby Pelicans fly northward and sandpipers feed on the sand crabs where the ocean meets the sand.  Threemile lake itself is a shallow lake in a beautiful setting. In the Summer during the dry season, the lake essentially splits into two.

This was an interesting hike. Round trip was 4.66 miles under windy and heavy rain.  I was amazed to see other people out hiking or mountain bike riding. This would be a great hike sometime in spring when the wildflowers are out and leaves on the Oak and Maple trees.

Alpine Trail -- Southern Section -- Westfir

This is a short 3.2 mile along the trail that is often called the "Crown Jewel" of the Oakridge area, home of "Mountain Bike Oregon". This section is the southern most part of this trail.  After climbing about a mile from the trailhead, you reach the top of a hill. What a beautiful day during the Winter.. Clear, Cold day.  If you want to see Eugene-Springfield and beyond from above, this is the place to hike. The trail is heavily used especially near the final ascent to the top.... the Views are spectacular especially on a clear  day. Round Trip is about 5 Miles. Vertical climb is about 1100 feet in about 2.5 miles

Off of the Waldo Highway, this is an easy trek around 2 miles to the lake. It is great lake to take a casual hike to. This was a beautiful, clear day. Very few Mosquitoes. Green Lakes - Cascades

A beautiful hike in the Oregon Cascades (Sisters Wilderness) a 9.2 (round trip) trek along fall creek up to green lakes. Great scenery of Mt Bachelor, Broken Top and South Sister.  It was beautiful day. A little windy and chilly at the lake.

Divide Lake- Mt Yoran

This was an unusually  cold and rainy trip to some small lakes that are located just below Mt Yoran.  Divide Lake is known for its great reflections of Mt Yoran.. Unfortunately, it was too cloudy to see Mt Yoran (or even Diamond Peak)...  but there was some great reflections of the trees on the lakes along with the "fog" rising from the lakes...

This is a 7.2 (round trip) mile trip up to the crater, the  elevation change is about 2300 ft.  It was a chilly and windy day at the top, but the view was well worth it. with views of Black Butte, Broken Top, North Sister, Belknap crater, Mt Washington and Central Oregon....

This trip started at the hand trail-head at Scott lake. the trail to hand lake was about 1.6 miles.. not too difficult.  Stopped by the Hand lake shelter to take pictures of Hand Lake. Great scenes of Mt Washington, North and Middle Sister.
