Just needed to get out for some fresh air and exercise. It was really more of an ice stroll. I took some pictures with my new phone (Motorolla Droid).
Red Hog is just South of Mica Bay on
Lake Couer d'Alene. It rises almost 2000 above the lake and the
summit ridge is over a half mile long. I started on an old but
passable road on the way up, but wound up doing quite a bit of
bushwhacking as I got higher. I did cross a couple of logging roads
on the way up. This particular route, if you can call it that may be

My boys, ages seven and five took me hiking and geocaching for Fathers Day. We had a great time picking up a few caches and getting some good exercise. They did a wonder ful job with the distance and the elevation gain. My five year old hardly complained even though we found out that his new shoes and given him blisters.It did start raining and got quite windy on the way up...

Awesome hike in some absolutely gorgeous country. My father and I started off with a boat rides from the Many Glacier Hotel across Swiftcurrent Lake. There is a fifth of a mile long paved trail connecting Swiftcurrent Lake from Lake Josephine. Fun little hike with a fair amount of elevation gain. There was still a fair amount of snow on the trail. Good views, next time I will pack a camera. :-)(GPSr batteries died on the way down)
Just needed to get out and get some exercise. I don't want to get to far out of shape before I start training for Hood, Jefferson & Rainier this summer. Spokane County just recently purchased this mountain for recreational use. They said they wanted to open up access on the East side in 2008, but I figured why not be early.
The trail was quite icy in places since it has been raining...
