Letshike Big Basin HQ to Waddell Beach via Berry Creek Falls
by eYeks on Apr 29, 2012
Boulder Creek, California, United States
Hiking | 12.4 miles
Early spring is perhaps the best time to hike through the lush greenery of Big Basin and to enjoy the plentiful flow over the Berry Creek Falls.Having done the Berry Creek loop a few times in the past, we wanted to chart a new trail - not found here on Everytrail. This hike requires non-hiker logistical support. Thanks to my wife, who graciously agreed to drive to Waddell Beach trail head to...

Letshike Rt 35 to Black Mountain
by eYeks on Apr 15, 2012
Palo Alto, California, United States
Hiking | 6.1 miles
The views from Black Mountain are breath-taking. Having been up there from the East side, I wanted to explore the Western approach. Most other trips to Black Mountain originate from the Monte Bello parking lot off of Page Mill road... This track originates off of Route 35.Only the 1st half of the hike is in the shade - rest of it isn't. On this trail we crossed smaller creeks and then finally...

Letshike El Sereno OSP-Bohlman to Lexington Overlook
by eYeks on Nov 13, 2011
California, United States
Hiking | 7.3 miles
It was going to be a cold sunny day - the goal was - no shade! This trail fits the bill - exposed 95% of the way. We took in a lot of sun on a brisk cool day. Perfect hiking conditions! I'm sure, the pictures will do justice - Gorgeous vistas! (Note: I tossed in a few pictures from a previous hiking trip along the same trail.)This is an inverted hike...

Letshike the Limekiln Lollipop
by eYeks on Aug 29, 2010
Los Gatos, California, United States
Hiking | 9.9 miles
This triangle on a stick is a tough 10 mile hike from Lexington Reservoir end of Limekiln to the Priest Rock junction and then on along Woods Road. We had done the Limekiln - Priest Rock - Kennedy Junction and back - which is quite grueling as you get to the Kennedy junction. This hike does one better. Interestingly, the long edge of the triangle is actually about equal to the two sides...

Letshike Sanborn to CastleRock
by eYeks on Aug 22, 2010
Saratoga, California, United States
Hiking | 9.0 miles
The perfect hike on a hot day because this trail has almost 95% shade. However, be prepared - once you start it is up, up and up - no respite whatsoever until you reach Highway 35. The hike parallel to 35 is the relatively flat and quite relaxing specially if you get lucky with the fresh pacific breeze.Credit: R. Kadambi for using his new iPhone 4 with Motion-X to record this trail.

Letshike Sanborn to Rt 35
by eYeks on Jun 06, 2010
Saratoga, California, United States
Hiking | 4.7 miles
This is our favorite hike on a hot sunny day... the trail is almost entirely shaded and therefore cool. The climb is relentless - almost continuously up all the way with nary a respite.I know we'll be doing this hike frequently this summer!

Hiking | 5.9 miles
A day trip from the Bay Area is how it started. Yosemite valley was our original destination but we decided to give Hetch Hetchy a try. EveryTrail Pro mobile to the rescue - we located the hike to Wapama Falls and the pictures here will tell how good a hike we had! This hike will be one to remember as the one where I lost my prescription glasses and they came back. Letshike Santa Teresa-Stile Ranch & Fortini Trail
by eYeks on Apr 04, 2010
New Almaden, California, United States
Hiking | 2.6 miles
Yet another Vaudesir inspired hike. With skies overcast and rain expected, we wanted to get the most out of a short hike... Armed with my Nikon D90 and a bunch of patient hiking buddies we went out to shoot some wildflowers in Santa Teresa Park.A whisping breeze blew over lush green rolling hills recently rinsed by rain. It was serene and peaceful - we came across a couple of equestrian riders and...

Letshike Mayfair Ranch & Serpentine Loop Trails
by eYeks on Mar 28, 2010
Mountain Home, California, United States
Hiking | 4.4 miles
Inspired by Vaudesir's Bald Peaks Trail here on EveryTrail, we ventured out south to the Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve today. The six of us thoroughly enjoyed the hike a part of which runs along the actively flowing Baldy Ryan Creek. Something about the sound of free flowing water amidst shady oaks and wildflowers... I just don't have the words to capture what we all experienced on this trail today.The...

Letshike Berry Creek... again!
by eYeks on Mar 21, 2010
Riverside Grove, California, United States
Hiking | 12.6 miles
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the word about this hike went out and got 13 of us to get together for this hike! It was a blast! For some of us this was our third hike around the loop, there were a few first timers - notwithstanding, we all made it all the way around. By any standards, this is a strenuous 12 mile loop - heck, at each end there...

Letshike to Kennedy on Priest Rock Trail
by eYeks on Mar 14, 2010
Lexington (historical), California, United States
Hiking | 7.9 miles
The last time we made it to the Kennedy/Priest Rock junction in the Sierra Azul open space preserve, we took the Limekiln Trail (click here, opens in new window). That hike was easier than this using Priest Rock all the way. Fortunately, we picked nicer weather today to do this harder hike! From the top, we were able to see all the way to San Francisco and going clockwise, Oakland, Hayward, Fremont and downtown...

Letshike Almaden Quicksilver Mockingbird Hill to McAbee Rd
by eYeks on Nov 29, 2009
English Town, California, United States
Hiking | 6.8 miles
This particular selection of trails is a moderate hike about 7 miles long. We left a relay vehicle at McAbee and started our hike from the Mockingbird Hill Lane parking lot. From the lot, we took the New Almaden Trail on to Buena Vista which connected us to the Randol Trail. The vistas across Almaden Valley looking at downtown San Jose are spectacular from Randol Trail.Highlight of this hike: when we returned, there...
Letshike to the Montalvo Bench
by eYeks on Oct 27, 2009
Saratoga, California, United States
Hiking | 2.4 miles
I hiked Montalvo by myself for the first time. It's so different hiking alone! This beautiful 3 mile hike is a real blessing! This little hike was recorded using the Everytrail App on the iPhone 3Gs - Started with 100% battery power and in an hour it was down to less than 50% with all known precautions!

Letshike Berry Creek Falls 12 mi loop
by eYeks on Oct 25, 2009
Riverside Grove, California, United States
Hiking | 11.4 miles
Rightfully, no other hike in the Bay Area can hold a candle to the Berry Creek Falls loop! Yes, it is strenous. The elevation profile is interesting to see - we have now done this hike both clock-wise and counter-clockwise. My personal preference is to do it clockwise - get to Berry Creek falls in 5 miles, almost all the way down. Coming back 6.5 miles you go up a few hills...

Letshike Sheldon Rd to Montevina Rd
by eYeks on Oct 18, 2009
Monte Sereno, California, United States
Hiking | 7.8 miles
Beautiful hike on a cool day! If you look at the stats, it is a good 1900 ft elevation gain on a wide gravel fire road into the Monte Sereno hills. As the road switches back all the way up, vistas alternate between the Bay and the Los Gatos valley and Lexington Reservoir below. This hike has been captured one way down earlier, starting from Bohlman Rd - this trip originates and ends...
