Finished lunch in the 12th at a wonderful bistrot. Decided to explore a bit and try this walk. Think it was featured in that Julie Delpy movie.
Moving from a hotel near the Sorbonne to an apartment near the Tour Eiffel. Pretty fun taxi trip.
In Grenoble for work. Some time off. Tram!
The tram runs from town up to a fortress that was originally built to defend the the town from attackers.
Views are great. It's also possible to ride the tram only one way and walk the other. If I had time I'd have done that, but alas nor for this trip.
My meetings ended early so before eating lunch I took a short walk the Metro stop Boissiere to Place Victor Hugo (to find a brasserie for lunch) and then on to the Arc de Triomphe. A nice way to spend an hour.
short walk from our hotel in the Vosges
Drive from Honfleur to Bruges. Fairly long road trip. The French autoroutes are fun to drive (if a little expensive). This is interesting/perfunctory so 2 stars. The trip starts out across the Normandy Bridge (from Honfleur to Le Harve.). It is the the largest cable stay bridge in the world.
Bouvet Ladubay - exploring the caves
Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent, Pays de la Loire, France
Sightseeing | 0.1 miles
Sightseeing | 0.1 miles
This one is a bit of an experiment. This track was actually done UNDERGROUND so the GPS readings are a bit bogus. This is a tour of the caves at Bouvet Ladubay. One of the oldest Cremant makers in the Loire Vallee they follow strictly the methode champenoise and in my oinion make a very fine product. Their old caves are carved out of the limestone. No longer used in direct production (their...
One of the most beautiful spots in France, le Mt St Michel is a marvel of engineering, architecture, and of history. The first construction dates over 1000 years ago, and upon that there are layers and layers of building, though in spots We arrived after a very nice lunch of lamb (which, because they graze on the salty marshes, have a unique taste) in the nearby town. We had to park some way...
Combo of driving and sightseeing along Omaha beach.Visit to the American Cemetery at Colville sur Mer was overwhelming at times. We had spent the morning at The Memorial Museum in Caen so we didn't really have enough time, in retrospect. In the future would allow a full day. Since we are staying in Cancale it was a long late drive home.
Fairly long drive in the morning, we got to our Gite about 30 minutes early. After a short "souper" we took a walk down to the Port. Being this far west and still on Continental time, the sun sets around 10pm, giving plenty of time for warm evening strolls.
Morning Run at Doue La Fontaine - getting in just before the rain storm

Doué-la-Fontaine, Pays de la Loire, France
Running | 2.6 miles
Running | 2.6 miles
Normally I'm not a runner but when on extended trips its really all I can do for exercise. This was a short run out toward the country from where we are staying for a few days. The road was very nice. we went early in teh morning and except for one very large poids-lourds no prblems at all. on the way home we encountered a storm. Made it in just before the...
Drive to Reims with a stop to buy Champagne
Taissy, Champagne-Ardenne, France
Sightseeing | 17.3 miles
Sightseeing | 17.3 miles
After a short walk in the morning we needed to get some champagne and then so some sightseeing in Reims. We had no trouble finding a producteur who would let us taste and buy a few bottles of delicious champagne
We're in Champagne for a few days. There is a kind of tree here (unique to this specific spot in France and one other in Russia) where the trees are naturally deformed. The trees are called "Les Faux de Vezelay" after a nearby town. They are beech trees.
