This is the
10-year anniversary of the Mississauga full and Half Marathons. Other than
the celebration of my 10 years participating, this year is in particular
memorable as it's only weeks after the Boston event. The
organizer led everyone to sing a song paying tribute to the Boston
victims. With all the runners waiting at the start line, surrounded by
the crowded bystanders, people were waving their hands high up for Boston, followed by
the national anthem of Canada. In an event like...
The beach sands are so fine and soft that I can jog the entire beach without wearing shoes.
Still one of the best half marathons in Greater Toronto Area.
There is no better way to finish my vacation by running a scenic 21k course on the Golden Gate Bridge. The first 5.5 km was basically flat running along the shoreline. At 5.7km, there were several hills and switch-backs leading up to the bridge. The steepest section happened after the bridge turning left to Conzelman Rd at 10.5 km all the way for one km. The returning route is completely downhill.
After spending...

There is no better way to end our camping vacation than doing a 10k jog along Highway 637 from the park to Herbert Fisheries to have the best fresh Fish N Chips anywhere. Herbert Fisheries serves whatever the fresh catch of the day they have. Ahmad and I started at the park office running west along Hwy 637 toward Georgian Bay. Passing the Chikanishing trail head at 2 km, the park boundary and Killarney Outfitters, we...
We should have enough stories to write about this race because of the rain, wind and cold. Adding to our story is the GoodLife Toronto Marathon. After they got squeezed out by Toronto City Hall because of another marathon running too close to each other in the fall, the Toronto Marathon organizer unbelievably picked the same date as the Missussauga Marathon to compete head to head with this 8-year-old most successful event...
Morning jog in downtown and midtown Nashville

Even though I had arrived in Nashville yesterday, I still forgot to adjust my watch to the Central Time Zone, I started running from the hotel at 730am but in fact it was only 630am in Nashville. Running down from 19th Ave along Broadway to downtown, this route was part of the beginning section of the Country Music Marathon. After passing Hwy 40/65 underneath the overpass along Broadway, I started to see...
Morning jog at Iroquois Park, Louisville, KY

Drove from Toronto down to Nashville, Tennessee with a stopover at Louisville, Kentucky for the night. After the first full day’s driving from 630am to 8pm, it was a good decision to have booked the hotel for the night at Louisville. After the night’s sleep to get rid of the road fatigue, I decided to go for a morning easy jog at the nearby Iroquois Park.It was still dark at 745am in...
I don’t exactly remember the year I started running the Toronto Half Marathon. According to the online record, it was at least in the year 1999 and I’ve been doing this religiously as an annual event. It has always been scheduled the week after the Thanksgiving weekend when the fall colour of the trees is at its peak in Toronto. I also remembered one year while running on Bayview Ave coming down...
Though the Mississauga Half/Full Marathon is only 7 years old, it has quickly become one of the most popular running events in the Greater Toronto area. This year, it has attracted more than 15,000 participants taking part in the 5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon this weekend.
Every year for the last 7 years, Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion has ‘ordered’ the weather for us. So far, her order has been working wonderfully...
What an enjoyable Sunday afternoon revisiting the HamiltonBeach trail! This is the trail I used to spend hours practicing my inline skating. Today, rather than skating, I ran the trail leisurely, without pressure of training or speed work in my mind. It has been at least 2 years since I last visited this trail. The entire 16k round trip is paved with the smoothest pavement you can find in the entire Greater Toronto region, serving...
This training season started a little early this year. Because of the preparation for the 4x5k relay of the YMCA corporate challenge in June, I did my ever best time in Mississauga Half at 1:43.07. After running a 22:05 at the 5k corporate challenge, I decided to give it a try to see if I can break my 1:40:43 record set in 2003 in Toronto Half.
Spent the whole summer training with intervals...
I’ve visited Manhattan probably for the 4th time so far but never really had the time or opportunity to visit the world famous Central Park. Having read too much about it in the news and watched the beauty of it from John Cusack in Serendipity, the “Maid” in Manhattan, or the old Diane Keaton and Woody Allen movies or some even very violent crime movies, I decided to spend a morning jog...
