Trail games, huge conifers, sweeping views from Mt. Tam, and a biergarten 3/4 of the way through the hike--hard to ask for more. Awesome day with Samantha, Brandon, Kristina and Nisha!

This was a great afternoon escape from the city followed by even tastier Pakistani grub at Shalimar. Christian, North Bay native, acted as guide showing me a nice way up the Hog and Fern Creek trails to get to the Fire Lookout.
On the way we had a stop at the Gravity Car museum and learned about the 'Crookedest Railroad in the World' that used to run on Mount Tam....
Nice forest counterpart to all the great mining history in the main mill area and at the museum.
Nice hike on West shore of Lake Tahoe that goes along the paths used for certain 1960 Olympic cross country skiing events including one of the biathlon events. No real views of the lake though. Would probably be more fun to do it on skis in the winter.
The last bit after crossing 89 to check out the Hellman / Ehrman mansion is really cool though.

We were really excited to test out the new version of our iPhone App that has audio and some other great features.
Overall it went really well--we found a couple minor last minute bugs that we fixed and Joan Hamilton's guide that we followed is really outstanding.
Summary: Hiking the Mount Diablo Grand Loop Trail is a great...
Great way to experience the redwoods on the one dog and bike friendly trail in the park.

There is a fair bit of elevation gain in a short distance on this one. On a sunny morning after a good nights rest at the Warren family farm, Tim, Posy, Julie, myself, McLean and David drove into the White Mountains to take this hike.
