ATV/Offroading Guides and Trips
Trips
We drove south from Hanksville on Hwy
95. Looking out over this area it appears to be a dry, barren
desert. However soon after we exited onto Poison Springs Wash Rd
another whole world evolved. We enjoyed beautiful rock cliffs,
interesting rock formations, petrified wood, petroglyphs and many
wildflowers.
We followed the wash rd along until it
forked left and took us up along a ridge that overlooked the Dirty
Devil River below. We followed...
We accessed this trail off Hwy 12 into
the Pleasant Creek Campground area. We parked the ATV's at the end
of the trail and then walked up the canyon a ways. The wildflowers
were an added treat to the gorgeous rock/cliff/canyon wall
formations. We were looking up at "the Salmon" and "Nicks
Peak" as we went along. The wind was absolutely horrible this
day. When we were on the ATV the wind...
We accessed the Great Western Trail
just off of Hwy 24 to the south east of Bicknell. We started at
about 7000 elevation and at the height of this trip we were at approx
9000 elevation. Terrain/vegetation varied from high desert to tall
pine and mountain meadows. We enjoyed a mountain stream and a small
lake or resevouir as well. We saw some antelope but I was too slow
with the camera to get a...
This trail access is just off of Hwy 24
and Bicknell Circle just to the South east of Bicknell. We rode
along Velvet ridge with the colorful bentonite hills and then along
sandy creek. We ended at a beautiful view of Hell's Hole. We got
off the quads a little under a mile from our destination due to an
area that was going to be too risky for us. However a couple teenage
boys...

ATV/Offroading | 24 miles
We went back another day and did some more trails in the Santa Rita's. We enjoyed the trail but the winds were bad. There were reported gusts in town up to 50 mph. So up on those ridges and mountain passes where it is usually windy...
The first time we took the Quad out we
went here but did not go far in due to time constraints. It just
didn't seem too interesting at that time. This time we go back to
give me some more experience in a less technical setting after my
narrow escapes (slight histrionics there) at Redington and Charleaou
Gap. After the first few miles (Past the Rosemont Junction area) it
became more interesting. Beautiful views...
I am sorry to say that I did not
experience this beautiful and challenging area before the Forrest
service destroyed many sections. In fact I learned of the work they had done the morning
after I had decided to go there and was trying to get directions on
the internet. Many people are upset due to the rape of nature. That
is sad as it will never be the same. Some people are...

ATV/Offroading | 20 miles
To get to this area take Tanque Verde
Rd and keep going toward the mountains until it becomes Redington Rd.
At around mp 2 it turns to dirt. This is a pretty rough road but
any vehicle can do it, however slowly. I was pulling my Quad on a
trailer so it was slow going at between 5-15 mph. We parked at the
parking area around mile post 12 of Redington Road #371. We...
Park at Staging area which is around the 10 or 11 milepost. There are
Bathrooms at this area. Head north on 4434 and pretty quickly to your
right you will see an ATV/motorcycle trail. This will cut over to 36.
If you have a street legal bike you can just take redington rd on up
to 36. Head north on 36. You will come to gates along the way, Make
sure you close them as you go...
