We joined a two-week tour of France and Belgium aboard the barge Feniks (Dutch for “Phoenix”). The boat, built in 1928, is a work boat remodeled to carry passengers via canals and rivers, with bicycle rides during the day for sightseeing. The owners and most of the crew are from Holland; the boat overwinters in Amsterdam.
