Kayaking / Canoeing Guides and Trips
Trips
I just wanted to see how one of my dogs would do on the kayak. Short trip due to the lightning and choppy seas.
Kayak trip to Picnic Key and around Tiger Key. We camped for 3 days / 2 nights on Picnic Key. We had planned on staying one more night, but the no-see-ems gave us a hard time. Great weather, great fishing and great times! Our resident fisherman (John) caught Mackerel, Trout, Flounder, and had a Tuna on line.
Launched from Everglades City and paddled with the tide (but against 15knot winds) past Chokoloskee, out past Rabbit Key and then onto Pavilion Key where we stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. We planned on camping out there on a full moon, but it turns out that on Saturday night (March 19, 2011) it was a what they call a "supermoon" (the closest the moon's been to the Earth in 18 years).javascript:nicTemp();We...

Kayaking / Canoeing | 9.1 miles
Met up with my friend (Justin) who doesn't geocache, but let me take a couple side tracks to search for the 3 listed here. It was very warm (even at 8:30am when we started). The gentle breeze and the cool water made it completely bearable. The Cockroach Bay boat ramp was extremely busy on this Memorial Day weekend. But everyone was cool. The "water cops" were heavily patrolling the area this weekend.
Geocaching from Pop Stansel park down to Dunedin Spoil Island ("Boat Load" geocache).

Geocaching north of Lettuce Lake on the Hillsborough River by kayak. Since USF's Riverfront Park has been closed every time I get chance to get out this way, I had to launch at the Temple Terrace boat launch at Fowler Avenue. For that reason, and the late launch, I only made it to 1 of the 3 geocaches on the river in this area.
Kayaking with a good friend who wanted to see what geocaching was. Perfect morning for a kayak trip up the Hillsborough river.
Mobbly Bayou Kayak-Geocaching Part 2

The first time I tried to find the MBR geocache series at Mobbly Bayou, I dropped my GPSr into the water and it leaked (and died). This time I came back with my new phone (with GPSr and Everytrail software) to find the rest of the caches in the MBR series. I ended up finding a real cool little island (one of many in this area).
