Overview:
This easy hike takes has several routes to make the trip as long or short as you want. There's picnic tables and even a fenced dog park along the way. Smithfield is home to Smithfield Farms which is in the shameful business of slaughtering pigs. After your hike, drive down the road to the Isle of Wight. There's a real working stockade and a hanging tree at the old courthouse. That's where the misbehavers in the neighborhood often ended up.
Tips:
This area is hot and humid in the summer. It's shady enough to be tolerable though. Bring mosquito spray and wear a hat! Bugs, including ticks, may be lurking in the trees
