Overview: This is a fun spring ski descent if you time it right. Climb up the ski slopes and ditch your ski gear in the woods at the top of the lift. Make your way across the ridge to get Wildcat A first then return to climb onto the viewing platform at Wildcat D. Although the ridge has several other points that have been given letters the only ones that count for peakbaggers are A and D. I provided a short track out to Wildcat E if you want to stand on top of that for good measure as well. You'll have great views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range across the valley and a really fun ski descent. This can easily be done in a half day with a ski descent.

Tips: To find the ski resort just follow the plentiful signs on route 16 in Pinkham Notch about 20 miles north of Conway. Parking is free at the resort parking lot.

Wildcat Ski Resort Parking Lot

Free to park here. Head up any of the trails if the resort is closed. If it is still open like it was when I went head up to the furthest one to climbers left to stay away from the crowds and keep to the side of the trail.

Wildcat "A"

At 4,422' this summit looks deep down into Carter Notch and across at Carter Dome.

Lookout from Summit of Wildcat "D"

Wildcat "E" (4,041') is the slight detour in the track through the thick brush to a smaller peak of Wildcat "D" that they used to think was the highest point. I put it in this track for good measure. Now they believe Wildcat D is higher at 4,062 feet. After taking some photos from the lookout of the Presidential Range across the valley slip into your skis for a great descent on any of the trails you choose as they all dump out to the parking lot below.
