Overview: This is the most scenic route to the top of Whiteface in my opinion and the fact that you pass by a dock into Lake Placid where you can take a dip on the way back on a hot summer day is just fantastic. The summit has a huge alpine zone and a building with historic information in it for you to explore. There is also a road that goes all the way to the top thus making this a great peak for you to finnish your Adirondack 46 on with your family and or friends meeting you at the top. Just remember that you need to hike back down for it to be legit though. Ask your parents/friends to bring extra special food to the top for you. :) Take a while at the top to explore all the great views.

Tips: The Connery Pond Trailhead is 3 miles north on Route 86 from Lake Placid and it is free to park there as far as I know.

Connery Pond

You'll have some views of your destination over this pond. Don't swim here. Wait for a couple more miles until you reach Whiteface Landing and Lake Placid.

Whiteface Landing

You can stop here on the way up or down but if you are here in the middle of the summer this will be a fantastic dip into Lake Placid on a hot day! Relax on the dock for as long as you would like!

Summit of Whiteface

At 4,865' you are now on the summit of Whiteface. If you are finishing your 46 on this peak hopefully you have some friends/family to meet you at the top with some great food. Take some time to explore the summit rocks, the slides to the west and the ski resort below to the east along with great views south towards Lake Placid and the rest of the high peaks in the distance.
