Overview:
This is a nice forest service road bike ride with about 900 feet of elevation gain. You will have great views over clear cuts down to the valley and to the surrounding MacDunn Peaks as well as a short side climb to the top of Vineyard Mountain
Tips:
Follow Highland Street out of Corvallis until you get to the Lewisberg Saddle Road. Take a left and then veer right onto Sulphur Springs Road that will take you to the Saddle.
A view down into a valley from the road. From here the highest mountain on the left in the photo is McCulloch Peak I believe, the highpoint of the MacDunn Forest.
You are now above the Peavy Arboretum Trails area. Continuing straight will take you to a different trail system. Instead hang a right onto the Harry J. Nettleton Road towards Vineyard Mountain.
Here you can continue up the road for the final climb to the official top of Vineyard Mountain. You've come this far, why not? You'll come back to this spot to start your descent.
At 1,453 you've now biked to the top of this mountain which has a set of tv and radio towers on top. There is the remains of an old chimney on top too.
