Overview: This is a nice forest service road bike ride with about 900 feet of elevation gain. You will have great views over clear cuts down to the valley and to the surrounding MacDunn Peaks as well as a short side climb to the top of Vineyard Mountain

Tips: Follow Highland Street out of Corvallis until you get to the Lewisberg Saddle Road. Take a left and then veer right onto Sulphur Springs Road that will take you to the Saddle.

Valley Viewpoint

A view down into a valley from the road. From here the highest mountain on the left in the photo is McCulloch Peak I believe, the highpoint of the MacDunn Forest.

Powderhouse Trail Crossing

This is a foot trail only. You'll cross it again when you turn onto the Harry J. Nettleton Road as well in a few hundred feet.

Trail Junction

You are now above the Peavy Arboretum Trails area. Continuing straight will take you to a different trail system. Instead hang a right onto the Harry J. Nettleton Road towards Vineyard Mountain.

Vineyard Mountain Junction

Here you can continue up the road for the final climb to the official top of Vineyard Mountain. You've come this far, why not? You'll come back to this spot to start your descent.

Vineyard Mountain Summit

At 1,453 you've now biked to the top of this mountain which has a set of tv and radio towers on top. There is the remains of an old chimney on top too.

Maintaining Scenery

A sign about maintaining forest stand scenery on the side of the road. Keep going, you are almost back to the saddle.
