Overview: This hike offers breathtaking landscapes and unique perspectives over the Massif du Mont Blanc! The path characteristics are stunning: 5 passes over 2500m, 4000m vertical up, 30km over 2200m! The lane starts from a mountain pasture 2km after Ferret village in a very cute valley of Switzerland. It successively leads to the Grand Col Ferret, the italian Val Ferret, the fantastic Col de Malatra (2930m), le col des Ceingles (2817m), le col de Saint Rhemy and alternatively ends through the fenêtre de Ferret or La pointe de Drône (2950m, for the very well trained ones). And last but not least you may relax and swim in one of the three lac de Fenêtre (water around 10 Celsius usually).

Tips:
There are only a few water points on the way: the refuge Elena down the Gd Col Ferret, the refuge Bonatti at the beginning of the Col de Malatra, the mountain house of Maltra (opened in 2011) and a restaurant slightly before the Gd Saint Bernard down the col the Saint Rhemy, so take enough drink with you, around 3L and refill in these places. Be carefull, it can be colds even during the hottest summer days. Jogging shoes are sufficient if you hate big mountains shoes as i do. Have a recent map with you, the way on the italian part is not that easy to find.

A new mountain hut opened in 2011 on East side of Malatra. Perfect to enjoy a short break or sleep and finish the hike on the next day.

Le Col des Ceingle

The beginning of the lane toward the Col des Ceingles is not that easy to find. You'll have to catch a lane on your left after 15 minutes downhill from Malatra. There's a pasture in front of you in the valley where another way up to Ceingles starts but this way is longer.

Le Col de Saint Rhemy.

There's is no lane from colde Ceingles to Saint Rhemy, the way is indicated by scattered yellow arrows painted on stones. Just keep walking on your left side of the valley on the way down Ceingles.

Graind Saint Bernard road

Down the Col de Saint Rhemy, you'll almost join the italian part of the international road of the Grand Saint Bernard. Avoid walking on the road. The lane vanishes but you'll see in front of you a path crossing the hill over the road.

Fenêtre supérieure de Ferret

Early in the summertime the snow recovers the lane. Save energy by sliding down on the snow, enjoy!!!

The lakes

Just paradise. Have lunch and relax! The way down to Ferret village is quite long but not more than 1h30. During the summer the sunset is around 21h, so you'll have plenty of time...
