Overview: This 1,300 ft ascent is a great cheap alternative to skiing at Mt. Bachelor across the street. There is a really nice northeast bowl at the top that is skiable in good snow conditions and the views towards Broken Top and the Sisters is superb. The tree skiing back to the Tumalo Parking lot is open and a ton of fun. This is a great trip for beginner backcountry skiers learning how to use their skins.

Tips: From Bend drive west on the Cascade Lakes Highway until you get to the Tumalo Parking lot across from Mt. Bachlor. You'll need a Snow-park pass here to park. Get here early as it often fills up with snowmobile trailers.

The jagged mountain in the distance is Broken top. The bigger ones are the Sisters with South Sister closest. Make sure to check snow conditions to make sure it is safe to ski the Northeast Bowl below you. I included a couple summer/fall pics for perspective of the summit.
