Overview: Take the family to a nuclear site... wait, what!?? Don't worry, the site has not been in operation for almost 20 years now. In 1993 the facility was shut down and by 2007 most of the buildings including the massive cooling tower had been demolished. This was all brought about by public distaste for the plant and despite millions and millions being spent by PGE to keep it operational it was closed down for good. So, it's totally safe now to bring the family here, even to fish from the nearby 29-acre lake. Before or after visiting the park head north the Prescott County Park Beach for some volleyball or horse shoes or if you are a bird watcher take the track at POI #2 to look for wildfowl.

Tips: To get to the parks follow Hwy 30 north from the town of St. Helens until you are almost at the Washington Border just before Longview. Theparks will be on the right side of the road along the Columbia River.

Parking & Trojan Site Loop

Park here and take the loop around the 29-acre lake. This is a day-use area but be free to fish or even boat (without motor) on the lake this loop walks around on a paved trail. Also, go check out where the massive Nuclear cooling tower used to stand before it was imploded on May 21, 2006. The photos I've included here were before the tower was blown up.
