Overview: Long day hike to dinosaur tracks, keyhole falls and subway. The subway is a pipe-like gorge. The trail is not maintained. The beginning is steep. The trail follows a creek. Hikers have to pass the creek a couple of times.

In order to do the subway-trail hikers need a permission from the administration of Zion National Park

Tips: Because you have to wade through water a couple of times, you should wear boots or sandals.

Descent into Left Fork Canyon

The descent from the rim to the bottom of the Left Fork Canyon is very steep. Partially the trail ist eroded and slippery due to the soft ground.

Bottom of Left fork Canyon
At the bottom of the Left Fork Canyon you might miss the little sign to the Subway. If you hit the Left Fork Creek just follow the north side of the creek to the east.

Dinosaur Tracks
The Dinosaur Tracks are at a north bank of the Left Fork Creek. On the ground at the north side of the creek there is a large arrow made of stones. This arrow points to the Dinosaur Tracks.

Keyhole Falls
A couple of times you have to cross the Left Fork Creek. During summer time the water of the creek is less than knee deep.
At the last third of the trip there are the Keyhole Falls. At that point the Left Fork Creek created a couple of cascades.

Entrance to the Subway
If you managed it to avoid crossing the Left Fork Creek at least at the the entrance of the Subway you are going to get wet feet. At this point there is no dry way to get to the Subway.

End of Subway
A cliff and a knee-deep pond marks the end of the Subway. If you climb the cliff you can proceed the Canyon of the Left Fork Creek. In order to manage the climb you might need a ladder or a rope.
