The Helvellyn Skyline

Overview: This walk starts at Grasmere and finishs at 'The Kings Head' at Thirlspot, returning by  Stagecoach 555. It includes all the tops on the ridge from Grisedale Tarn  to Sticks Pass but can be shortened at many points to suit.

Helvellyn is such an iconic mountain that hardly a day goes by without someone visiting its summit. It is also accessible from many starting points also contributing to its popularity. Its famous 'edges' of Striding Edge and Swirral Edge also adds to its appeal.

One can decide whether to go from south to north or vice versa depending on the prevailing wind.
