Overview: This is a short but very steep 500 foot climb from sea level to the top of this 500 foot mountain of rocky ledges. It is very steep on the way up and you'll be walking along cliffsides so it is not for the faint of heart. At the top you'll make an excursion to a cool pond in the mountainside called "The Bow" before returning to the trailhead via a loop trail that is more gradual on your knees for the descent. Bring a camera for the views.

Tips: Parking:
From the Park Loop Road in Acadia park at the Sand Beach Parking area.

There is a $20 fee to get into the National Park.

The Bee Hive Trailhead

Head off on the trail from here. Look up at the cliffs above you.

Trail Junction

You will want to climb up the steeper switchbacking trail to the right as going up steeps is always easier than going down them! Start heading up!

Summit of the Beehive

At just over 500 feet you are at the summit of the Beehive! Enjoy the great views down to Sand Beach and the Atlantic.

The Bowl Side Trail

Head off this way down to The Bowl for some lakeside views. There are several trails in this area to get you down there but they are all so short you won't get lost. Just make sure when you get to the Bowl that you turn around and head back towards the Beehive. From here take the Bowl Trail back to the trailhead after visiting the pond.
