Overview: Terwillegar Park is a park undergoing a transformation. After a lengthy public consultation, the park will be maintained in a natural state with improved parking and trails. The River Valley Alliance (RVA) in partnership with the City of Edmonton, is proposing two pedestrian bridges to be built on each side of the park to improve connectivity and further the RVA plan of action.

Terwillegar Park is also home to one of the largest off-leash dog parks in the area. The Park is well maintained and is intersected with walking and mountain bike trails everywhere you go. The connectivity to the surrounding neighbourhoods is very good.

Entering Terwillegar, there is a gravel parking lot which opens into a very large and open green space. The Park is an off-leash area for pets and is very popular with pet owners. There are many trails inside the park and this walk takes you through the west side of the park.

Once you pass the water filled ponds (a favorite spot for swimming pets) you head up a steep hill to access the walking trail that skrits the west side of the park. This trail can take you right up into the local neighbourhoods on the south end of Terwillegar.

The path is gravel and well packed with lots of up and down sections. There is access to the riverside at many locations and good opportunities for wildlife viewing and photos. This path is popular with dogwalkers, bikers and joggers and is a good workout due to the terrain.

Like the rest of Terwillegar Park, there are multiple trails which lead all over the park. You have the option of choosing your own path at any time. Have fun and explore!

Tips: -Bring some water
-Bring your pet for a long walk and an opportunity to make new friends
