Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 26 miles / 42 km
Duration: Half day

Overview: Undulating through the Raccoon Mountain Trail System high above Chattanooga, Tennessee, offers trail runners the perfect terrain for high speed distance running. The views from along the trail are simply stunning so make sure to stop and take a breather or two and take in the spectacular scenery.

Starting at Laurel Point and round the circle drive counter-clockwise once and then running along the access road until leaving the pavement at a yellow gate on the right. The 2nd lap of the course follows the same route but rather than take the road towards the yellow gate, run across the road and take the trail to the left. At the end of the 2nd lap once runners reach the access rd. toward Laurel Point they continue across the road as with the second lap, but continue straight and follow the trail toward Laurel Point. The finish, as with the start is at the highest elevation point on the road loop and you will run around the loop counterclockwise to finish.

Tips: One lap is typical for this course. If you try and run the marathon course, pack a lunch. By that I mean water and food and nutrition. Raccoon is great course but expect no mercy. Stage water and carry food
