Overview:
Russian river kayaking is about 8.6 miles long and located near Rio Dell, California. The trail is great for kayaking / canoeing and normally takes a half day.
This trip is best when you have two car to transport your kayaks You put in at Steelhead Beach regional park 9000 River road in Forestville, you can leave your kayaks there continue West on River road to Guerneville, turn Left on Church street and park one , return to Steelhead beach. There are three bridges, the first you go under is the 1/3 way point, the next bridge has pillars and no drive, it is best to paddle to the Right of it. During and right after the rainy season the river can flow 8-10 knots, so be carefull, during the late Spring and Summer months the flow is 3-5 knots. The entire trip is 8.3 miles to Guerneville River park. There is an abundance of wild life, clean beaches, incredible scenery. This river empties in the Pacific ocean about 15 miles further down stream.
Tips:
Bring sunblock, water, a picnic lunch, camera, binoculars, life jacket, sun glasses, swim suit and a thirst for adventure.
