Racoon River Park Loop

Overview: Racoon River Park Loop is about 3.2 miles long and located near West Des Moines, Iowa. The trail is great for hiking and normally takes 1-3 hours.


nice easy gravel trail through the woods, and paved near the road. It has benches, emergency call boxes, garbage cans, picnic tables, port-a-potties, and bags to dispose of your dogs waste. It's a very nice, clean, senic trail.

Tips:

Racoon River Park is a very nice park. There is a large playground, a fishing pier, dock, beach, softball complex, dog park, soccer field, picnic shelters, nature lodge, and more. The West DesMoines fireworks are held here for independence day. It's an awesome park!

 

TO TRAILHEAD: trail heads are located near the dog park and near the soccer field / boat dock . But really you could just park anywhere and follow the trail by the water.
