Overview:
Todays destination is first Poon Hill, early morning Sunrise, and after breakfast to Tadapani, 10.7km, about a 6 hour day hike. The climb to Poonhill is a few hundred meters up, in the dark (at 5-5:30am); so bring a flashlight. Then you arrive in time to see the sunrise light up the main Annapurna & Dhaulagiri mountain range. That is, if you're lucky to have a clear day.
After breakfast back in Ghorepani, the rest of the day begins with a gradual climb over a ridge -back to Poon hill height- after which you descend sometimes with steep stairs.
The final stretch to Tadapani is down a valley and up another 130m climb in less then 1km.
Tadapani offers a great view on Annapurna South and Fishtail mountain; you get a second chance next morning if you've missed the view at Poon Hill.
Tips:
Stop for lunch at restaurant Tranquility, or a bit earlier in Banthani 2.
Hotel Panorama in Tadopani does not have the best food, but the view is great.
If you liked the apple pie in Ghorepani; don't try it here! Because you'll get a big deep-fried momo filled with apple-chocolate mush.
3210m. Climb up at 5-5:30am in the dark with a flashlight, to see the sunrise on the Dhaulagiri and Annapurnas. One of the best view points in the Himalayas.
Up to Durali the trail goes up and down along a ridge, with the most beautiful old rhododendron trees. Durali is your first option for a tea break; there are no tea houses before it.
Just before Tadapani the trail drops down steeply to a river and after the river there's the final 130m high climb to Tadapani. Tadapani offers a great view on Fish-tail mountain and Annapurna South.
