Overview: This is a relatively new trail system just built north of downtown Golden. It is fairly short and nontechnical but does offer a climb and some singletrack. It's a good ride if you are short on time and want something easy.

Directions to trailhead: From west Denver, drive 12 miles on 6th Avenue going west. At the intersection of 6th Ave, CO-58 and CO-93 near the city of Golden, continue straight (north) onto CO-93. In about 2 miles, you will see the obvious parking lot for North Table Mountain Park on your right. Park here.

North Table Mountain trailhead

This is a relatively new parking lot off of CO-93. There is a kiosk with trail maps here. Feel free to take one along with you on the ride. You can take the trail going north or south from the parking lot.

For this ride, I describe going south from the parking lot. Follow the North Table Loop trail south from the parking lot, onto a jeep road that steeply climbs for about 0.7 to the top of the mesa.

Turn right at this sign, heading toward the Mesa Top and Rim Rock trails. These trails will split in less than 0.1 mile.

Note: Sorry about the map at POI #4 and #5. The GPS must have gone wacky.

Left goes to the Rim Rock trail. This trail is seasonally closed from March 15 to July 31. Go right onto the Mesa Top trail. In less than 1 mile you will come to a technically advanced descent. Have fun and be careful.

Mesa Top trail and North Table Loop intersection

You are about 3 miles from the start of the ride. You will see the Mesa Top trail sign here. The unmarked trail on the right is the North Table Loop trail. In the future when the Jefferson County Open Space finishes the North Table Loop trail, this is where it will connect. As you continue passed this sign, you are actually continuing on the North Table Loop trail.

Tablerock trail intersection

You are about 4.6 miles from the start. Take a right onto this fun little singletrack called the Tablerock trail. Left is a boring jeep road, the continuation of the North Table Loop trail. You can go either way; the trails will intersect in about 0.5 miles.

Intersection of North Table Loop and Mesa Top trails

You are about 5.3 miles from the start. Continue straight (right) on the North Table Loop trail. In 0.8 miles you will be back at the parking lot. Total mileage for the description of this trail is about 6.1 miles.

If you want more climbing, take the Mesa Top trail back to the top of the Mesa. From there, you can make your way back down the steep North Table Loop jeep road back to the parking lot. Or if you are really ambitious, do another loop around.
