North Kinsman, South Kinsman and Cannon

Overview: This loop will bring you past Lonsesome Lake in an old glacial cirque, past Kinsman Pond to the Kinsman Peaks which are the highest in the range (South 4,358', North 4,293'). You will then double back and head over the "Cannonballs" towards 4,077' Cannon Mountain which has a ski area on its northern face. You'll find a viewing platform at the top of the Tramway on Cannon for views. Kinsman is an open summit offering good views but North Kinsman is wooded with some views to the east. This loop hike is the quickest and easiest way to get all three 4,000 foot peaks in one hike.

Tips: Lafayette Place Parking Lot Trailhead
The trail up to Lonesome lake leaves I-93 at the same spot as the trailhead for Lafayette but on the west side of the interstate about 2 hours north of Boston. There is a $3 per day fee to park here.
