Overview:
This is a moderately difficult climb of Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, California. The top offers an incredible view of the surrounding landscape, this is one of the best views in the Bay Area. The climb is short but has a large elevation gain during the hike.
Follow the fire road from the trail head. At 0.2 miles turn up a small path by the waterfalls. If you want you can continue on the fire road but this path is short and has some nice waterfalls. In another 0.2 miles you will come across the fire road again follow it for about 0.2 to 0.3 miles till you see a trail to your left and follow that up the mountain. From here it is a pretty poorly maintained path through parts and is where you really start climbing. This path will lead you up to the peak at the top.
Tips:
Bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes for the poorly made path.
In this area there are some nice little waterfalls. They maybe a little slow during dry times over the summer but during the winter after rainfall they have a nice flow to them.
East Peak has an incredible view once you made the complete climb. You can see a full 360 degree view of Marin county and see parts of San Francisco and the East Bay.
