Overview: For a more intimate view of the relationship between marshes and farm area in the Willamette Valley, the loop around Morgan Lake and the small marsh to the west is a great chance to see waterfowl up close on both types of habitat.

Trailhead Signs

Trail Surface

Packed gravel at first, but later you'll find grassy field margins and later an access road.

Morgan Lake

This lake, held back by a levee, is a great place to find diving ducks.

Baskett Bluff

In the distance, the trails lead to Baskett Bluff. If you connect to that trail system, you can hike all the way across the refuge.

Coyote Tracks

The abundance of waterfowl on the refuge gives coyotes plenty of prey.

Puddle Marshes

These small marshes are great places to find puddle ducks such as mallards and northern shovelers.

Canada Geese

As with anywhere on the refuge, there are plenty of Canada geese.
