Overview: Solitude, and a nice remote lunch spot!

Thanks to the local Girlscouts for the work they have done in this nature area!

This trail has tons of unique plants, a very diverse ecosystem with plenty of animals to see.

Starting on an open field, the hike goes through the openness passing some small BLM-owned buildings. To the right of the 1st intersection is a great pond for fishing.

The many loops in this trail can make a bigger hike than 3 miles, consult the park map in the parking lot.

There is a small remote pond which may contain fish.

If doing this loop, stick to the GPS data to complete the loop, there are many subloops and all have different names. There are no take-along trailmaps at the trailhead.

A small creek runs through the hike, along with a very active plant / tree / forest recovery program by the local girlscouts.

The trail can get quite muddy in the southern portion after a good rain, but easily circumnavigated.

Take a lunch to the remote picnic spot, next to an open field and let the kids run around.

Tips:

  • take a lunch to the remote picnic site
  • no copies of trailmap at trailhead
  • follow GPS route for a loop!
