Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 4.0 miles / 6.4 km
Duration: 1-3 hours
Family Friendly • Dog Friendly

Overview: This is a fun loop to do after you get out of work if you live in Corvallis as it can be done in about an hour if you are in good shape. You will also have the option if you have more time and energy to continue on Dan's trail to the top of Dimple Hill. Please refer to my Dimple Hill guide if you chose to do that and then link it up with this guide to get back to 29th street. I like this route because the trailhead at the end of 29th street is easier to access if you ride your bike to it from town than driving all the way out and around to the Chip Ross Park lot.

Tips: Directions:
From Walnut Blvd in North Corvallis, OR head north on 29th street and follow the road up the hill to where it ends. Park anywhere on the side of the road but be curteous as there are properties up there. Don't block driveways, etc.

There isn't good parking here so try to find a spot along the side of the road and be respectful of the properties in the area. It's not illegal to park here, just be polite.

Choice

Here you have a choice. If you continue up Dan's Trail you'll be heading towards the top of Dimple Hill. I have another guide for that route called "Dimple Hill with Horse Trail Return". If you choose to head up that way for a longer ride please refer to that guide. For this short ride we are going to head up the wider forest service road straight ahead. This will cut the elevation gain in half and put you on the Horse Trail halfway down from Dimple Hill.

Horse Trail Junction

At this point take a right and head into the woods for a fun descent down the lower half of Horse Trail. Watch your speed at the end as the final bit of single track through the open field is rutted.

Time to head back

When you hit the road from the trail take a right and follow the road up and around a corner to start climbing a hill.

Hill Climb

This is the last hill climb of the ride. When you get to the top its all down hill back to the car. One last push! Follow the road and gps track to POI#2 which will put you back on the trail you came in on and back to your vehicle.
