Difficulty: Difficult
Length: 6.4 miles / 10.3 km
Duration: Half day

Overview: The Open Space Preserve characterizes Sierra Azul as being rugged with steep terrain in the largest OSP in the San Jose/Los Gatos Area.

This particular hike from the Limekiln trail head past the Lexington dam parking lot starts off gradually and continues uphill to the junction of Limekiln with Priest Rock.

After the left on Priest Rock the real work begins. The climb becomes increasingly steep all the way to the Kennedy trail junction. The views from this spot are to behold on a clear day with San Francisco to the North to the rolling hills past Gilroy to the South.

Enjoy the open space! Keep it clean!

Tips: To start from Limekiln, start early - 8am is early enough, else you may not find parking at the trail-head.

This is a steep hike to the top - avoid overly hot days because the part on PriestRock is entirely in the sun.

Watch out for bikers... especially ones coming downhill - get OUT OF THE WAY - there is no way they'll be able to stop if you create an emergency for them!

Take plenty of fluids and snacks cant hurt!

Have Fun!!
