Overview: The Iron Gates Experience is a secluded and beautiful part of the Manawatu region. Its namesake is the Iron Gates Gorge, which has sheer cliffs and a powerful river pushing through the narrow gorge that guards the entrance to the nearby valley and farmland. The Gorge was named by the early settlers in this area.

This experience has accommodation, tramping and walks, scenic activities, horse trekking and much more.

Tips: This guide features a small sample of the things you can see and do in the Iron Gates region. For a detailed list pick up a copy of The Country Road Map & Guide available from i-SITE Palmerston North and most i-SITEs in the North Island.
