Overview: Ice House Canyon is about 7.9 miles long and located near Dells, California. The trail is great for hiking and normally takes a full day.

The Ice House Canyon is a popular day hike with a trail head just north of Mount Baldy Village.  The trail is not to strenuous, but if you are hiking in the winter, snow and Ice is a factor.  The saddle is the destination for most hikers and views of Mount Baldy and Ontario Peak can be seen.

You will follow a stream for almost the first two miles of the hike. There are great little cabins along the way as well.

You will find about 2700 feet of elevation gain and if you if you stay on the trail, about 7.5 miles in length, out and back.

The trail also leads to several other trail, good backpacking and even to Mount Baldy.

Tips: During the winter, the trail can be covered with ice and snow.  Crampons should be used to avoid slipping on steep sections.

There is some great snow play areas when the snow is plentiful.

Cold or hot, bring plenty of water.

Loved this trail. Took the cedar glen route up to the saddle (notch) and then up to Kelly camp. Took the Ice House canyon trail down. I don't recommend cedar glen if you are skittish about heights or if it's very windy. It was 13 miles of heaven. Also, an Adventure pass and a free Cucamonga wilderness permit required. CW permit can be filled out at T.H. if they haven't run out. Lastly, avoid weekends. Try it and you'll find out why.
