Overview: This is a wonderful hike that takes you through a temperate rainforest environment, past massive trees and eventually to beautiful coastal views. If you arrive at the right time of year you may see plenty of wildflowers as well. This hike is unique as you start of the hike descending and return climbing the same switchbacks on the way back.

Tips: Directions:
From Lincoln City drive north on 101 for six miles to FS 1861. Turn left onto this road and follow it four miles to the trailhead at the end.

Parking Lot

Start off on your steep descent down switchbacks towards the coast. Unfortunately it took me a while to get a strong gps signal so the track doesn't officially start here in the guide but there is only one trail so just follow the one you see leading down switchbacks out of the parking lot.

Giant Downed Trees

When you pass through this downed tree you'll have a good perspective of just how massive old growth doug firs can get.

Hart's Cove Views

When you pop out of the woods you'll be greated to sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Hart's Cove below to the left of you. Walk down the path to get a different perspective. From here simply hike back the same way you came!
