Overview: Garner Cave is a rather heavily visited cave since it's close to the city. This hike is said to be on the difficult scale, and I probably wouldn't disagree. I have personally gone up there 3 times now but it's not the hardest hike I've done.

The cave has been visited by lots of people. There are a few spots that you could hurt yourself in there, but it's a pretty simple system for the most part. Don't do what you're not comfortable with doing.

Tips: You'll follow the canyon all the way in. It will split into two different canyons - go left. You'll go that way for a ways (climbing over walls of rock in a few points) and then you'll come to a point where there will be a ton of shale that has slid down over the trail. At this point you want to start heading to the right which will be toward the pine trees. You'll come to a big tree in the middle of the trail (it's up a ways but you'll know you're on the right track). After this, it's about another 200ft ahead and up a bit. You'll notice the rope there to climb in.

Bring these items with you to make your life easier in the cave - knee pads, gloves, head lamps.

Good luck.

Garner Cave

The cave is right here, there is a rope to climb into the actual cave. You'll want to be careful inside it because there are a few points that you can drop through easily if not paying attention. The cave is pretty nasty, between the rat poop and the kids that have gone in there you'll want gloves.

Short Cut

You can either go just left off the bridge and up the steep incline or continue on the obvious trail to the left. It will end up taking you to the same place (assuming you take the right hand turn later on if you continue on the obvious trail).

Parking

We have just been parking on the side of the street here. There has never been any issues as far as vandals, businesses, or police. The start of the trail is not private property and it's just on the the south side of the garage service.

I was wrong about the poop in the cave, you'll notice a little bit of animal activity but there is nothing in there other than crickets. The cave is awesome and the hike up there offers you some amazing views. I was going to get an exact GPS coordinates but I forgot to charge it. So I'll include that next time we go up to get into the mud rooms that are suppose to be in there. Awesome time up there though, and the directions on this guide are pretty simple.
