Overview: The Fence Line trail is a short, shaded 0.5mile walking trail that offers a full demonstration of flora in the central valley riparian habitat.

Some native plants you may come across are wild roses, california buckeyes, valley oaks, willows, poison oaks, elderberries, and many more. Non-native plants such as edible figs and tree-of-heaven can be found here are well.

Don't be surprised if you happen to see gray fox, brush rabbits or woodrat, they live here as well! You can also be on the look out for owls, though they're not as easy to spot.

Tips: On a typical non-rainy day, sturdier walking shoes and a camera should be fine. Bring binoculars for birding.

Dogs and bikes are prohibited on trail and beaches in this park.

You can extend your hike by adding on some optional trails:
Hidden lake trail adds 0.4 mile
River Bend Trail adds 1.3 miles
Crow's Loop Trail adds 0.4 mile
Majestic Oaks Trail adds 0.4 mile
Gray Fox Trail adds 0.24 mile
Rabbit's Run Trail adds 0.07 mile

Central valley riparian forest -- Oak tree, short shrub view

This is a nice section for viewing oak trees and short shrubs. Notice the fenceline to the right with elderberries, willow, wild roses and grape vines growing along the path.

A forest full of oak trees on the left side of the trail shows the start of the Majestic Oaks trail. There are occasional buckeye nuts on the ground rotting among the mushroom growth.

At one point, two cannonballs were discovered in this area, suspected to be a historic battlefield area between the Native Americans and the Spanish.
