Overview:
This area of Virginia is comprised of mostly farmlands and thus it is not a big tourist destination.
Being on the bay, it offers marshy areas with some very seldom visited trails, unique farm shops, fishing villages, antique shops, and other such attractions--when you want to truly getaway from it all!
This is the 2nd of 3 hikes in the Virginia Peninsula Audubon hiking bundle, all located within a small area for birding.
This trail is very easy, part on boardwalk to a panoramic overlook that has a view of the entire marshy area meeting the bay!
Nesting birds, and other such larger birds that nest on the ground as well in the trees make the area home--including many rare species as noted on the entrance sign.
Enjoy a lunch on the overlook, and listen to the quietness of it all :-)
youll find some larger birds than the other 2 Audubon hikes in the Virginia Audubon Peninsula hike, namely because of the tall dried out grass where they will nest in.
there are some rare species in this area as noted on the sign, and pictured.
