Overview:
Catoctin Mountain Park: Cunningham Falls / Hog Rock Vista with The Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group (Template) is about 3.9 miles long and located near Clarksburg, Maryland. The trail is great for hiking and normally takes 1-3 hours.
This loop is a moderate hike with uphill and downhill sections of the trail that include moderate to steep inclines (See Tips for Others Below). This trail is the longest loop (without making any variations) and features Maryland’s largest cascading waterfall at 78 feet and two stunning vistas. The Hog Rock Vista is the highest elevation overlook on any of the trails/loops reaching 1610 ft. Although Blue Ridge Summit does not reach this elevation it is the second highest overlook reaching a maximum elevation of 1520 ft.
Tips:
This hike is described as moderate only because most of the climbing is done in two short stretches: the first 0.25 mile and the 0.3 mile approaching Blue Ridge Summit Overlook. From past hikes, most people say that other than the first hill, this is an easy hike and perfect for the winter time of year offering crisp and clear views!
This is not the right trail, as mddutchguy pointed out. Hog Rock Vista and Catoctin Mountain Park are on Rt. 77 between Thurmont, MD (off of Rt. 15 in Frederick, MD) and Smithsburg, MD (Washington County, MD). Visited on Feb 28, 2013
I think there is something mismatched here. The trail map on the right side points to trails in the Little Bennett Regional Park (see http://www.montgomeryparks.org/facilities/regional_parks/little_bennett/), while Cunningham Falls and Hog Rock Vista are located further north near Thurmont on route 15 between Frederick and the Pennsylvania state line.
