Crater Lake Rim Road Driving Tour

Overview: This is a comprehensive guide to the best viewpoints and points of interest around the Crater Lake National Park. This guide is strictly a driving guide around the 33 mile Rim Road. I've chosen to start the guide from the northern entrance to the park. I have included a stop at the park Steel Information Center where I highly suggest you go in to learn all abou the park you are visiting. At the entrance gate they give you a brochure on the area so I don't go into all the details of what you are seeing in this guide because the brochure will tell you that. Instead, this guide will provide you a very accurate gps track and lots of digital media of what you are going to see. I have stops for both the Sun Notch Viewpoint as well as the trailhead for Mt. Scott but both of those are seperate guides I have written that I urge you to look up and combine with this driving guide. You will definitely want a full day to enjoy all the views.

Tips: From I-5 in Roseburg Take 138 to Crater Lake or from Bend on the west side take 97 south to 138 for Crater Lake. There is a $15-20 National Park Fee per car to enter the park and the park usually doesn't open until late May. You will want to call the park to find out if the rim road is open.
