Circular cycle ride South West of Bowness on Windermere

This is a good place to start the route. This Layby just South of Bowness on Winderemere normally has free parking for about four cars.

It may be a little early in the rise to stop for a drink, but if you do fancy one this is a good place to stop with a fine choice of Ales.

1 mile along the road from Winster you pass by a ford on the right.

The road from Winster to Bowland Bridge provides plenty of scenic views.

Bowland Bridge is a quaint Lakeland village that time has forgotten. There is a little well stocked and very friendly Post Office and the Hare and Hounds pub with a lovely garden looking over the fields to the hills.

A nice place to take a break and admire the views from and ideally placed wooden bench.

St. Mary's was rebuilt in 1878, replacing churches which may well have originated earlier than the 12th century.

Mountain Bikers may wish to take a short bridleway at this point. It's a fairly smooth grassey path which rejoins the main route after about a mile.

Windermere is one of the most scenic golf clubs in the country. It is often referred to as a miniature Gleneagles.

The final stretch of the route offers glimpses of Lake Windermere and is a relaxing downhill roll back to the starting laybay.
